MONDAY--July 19, 2004--Aunt Nola & Moms were having so much fun that they kicked Cousin Renae & Jude out. After spending the day together & eating dinner out, they went back to pick up Moms and say "good night" to Aunto Nola. Just about the time they got to Renae's place, the nursing home called because Aunt Nola had taken a fall from her wheelchair and was taken to the emergency room. Aunt Nola had no injuries other than a few scrapes. When Renae got back from the hospital, she & Jude stayed up until 4am playing like they were pirates.
TUESDAY--July 20, 2004--Digging potatoes in Renae's garden. Renae saw to it that Mom's & Jude took home fresh, still-covered-in-soil potatoes, turnips, beets (with attached beet greans), swiss chard, onions, peas & strawberries. She also added 2 jars of pickled beets & 2 jars of huckleberry-raspberry jam.
TUESDAY--July 20, 2004--Jude & Cousin Renae, each taking a pea. Photo compliments of Pixie & Cousin Pod.
TUESDAY--July 20, 2004--Moms & Cousin Renae. An American classic.
TUESDAY--July 20, 2004--Sunset in Idaho. Since there are no freeways leading to Logan, there are no freeways leading away from Logan. There are just 2-land roads winding through mountains. NOTE: Jude resized this photo. Talk about a MADDOG learning new tricks!

SUNDAY EVENING--Sunset on Logan River in Logan Canyon. Jude's mother lives 3 miles from the mouth of Logan Canyon. Three miles & there is this kind of ruggedness! Awesome!
Tomorrow morning Jude & her Moms will head up to Idaho Falls so Moms can visit with Aunt Nola.
Jude & Moms will continue the moose search on Wednesday when they return to Logan. Hopefully the campers and fishermen will be safely back at their jobs so the moose will be less shy. Now if Jude can only get her mother to behave. . .
SUNDAY--BAD MOTHER! BAD MOTHER!
The plan today was the same as the plan yesterday--take a trail in Logan Canyon and find a moose. But alas & alack, there is nary a moose in sight. So the Bad Mother (see photo) decides she wants to Jude to wade out into the Logan River so the Bad Mother can take a photo.
Jude complies without complaint. But the Bad Mother can't seem to push the right buttons on Pixie, so Jude climbs back out for a quick lesson. Then it is into the river again. BTW the river is cold, frigid, and numbing.
The Bad Mother is still having trouble & decides to get a little closer. One step is all it takes--and the Bad Mother is rolling down the riverbank!
Jude flounders over rocks and through rapids to stop Bad Mother before she belly-flops in the water.
Bad Mother is laughing, but Jude is too worried that Bad Mother is hurt to laugh. Once Bad Mother gets to her feet & Jude can see that all is well, Jude does laugh. Now they are both laughing, snorting, chortleing. That's when Bad Mother needs a bush--right now/no waiting.
Jude misses the opportunity for a perfect shot because she is still laughing.
Then Bad Mother sits on a rock to take her slacks off to shake the dirt out. But she catches her foot in the pant leg. She gives a tug and pulls herself off the rock and face down into the bushes. Jude is dying laughing with rib splitting guffaws. She finally gets Bad Mother to her feet, but now Jude HAS to find a bush.
Bad Mother pretends to take pictures, but Jude knows that Bad Mother doesn't know which Pixie buttons to push.
They laugh, in a most outrageous undignified manner, for about 20 minutes before Jude braves the treacherous river again.
One thing is for certain, if there were moose around, they have long gone fled.
SUNDAY--SUCCESS!! Bad Mother realizes her desire to take of picture of Jude standing in the Logan River.

The Nomad & Jude at the Crew's nite camp along the Salmon River. Pict taken Tuesday morn just after a breakfast of fried potatoes & meatless Italian sausage. We weren't able to post for several days, so this part of the adventure is like a run-on sentence.
The high mountain desert of Idaho, pict taken sometime on Tues.
First stop once the Crew got to Idaho Falls, ID was taking a walk along the falls. Jude ran into some crazy boys jumping off rocks at the base of the falls. She told them they were crazy and they didn't disagree.
Jude thought this foam formed by the falls looked artistic. What do you think?
From a distance, I thought I saw a river otter (my favorite animal), but it turned out to be a muscrat feasting on a tasty meal.
A trout fingerling that served as a morsel for the Muscrat..
Idaho Falls Temple. When I drove into Idaho Falls, where I lived from the age of 6 to 9, I wondered if I could ever find my way around. But my mind just erased the new building & I could see through to the old--like when I lived there--& I recognized everything like: where we once lived, the little market where I saw Liberace give out Challenge cottage cheese samples, the record store where my mom bought me a 45 record of the "real" Davy Crocket singing Davy Crocket (when I was 6, I wanted to grow up and marry Davy Crocket), and the way to Aunt Nola's house.
Aunt Nola & Cousin Renae in Idaho Falls, ID. Spent a couple of days with them--Tuesday afternoon & all day Wednesday.
Bear Lake--North half in Idaho & south half in Utah. The blue, blue color is from calcium suspended in the water from all the seashells. Once upon a time all this area was under the ancient salt water of Lake Bonneville. Even in the mountaintops seashells are everywhere. I drove through here on Thursday.
FRIDAY--Uncle Steve's & Aunt Karma's living room, all done up in Early Mountain Man. They live in College Ward, just to the south of Logan.
FRIDAY--Moms with Uncle Steve (her brother), and Aunt Karma. If the truth be told, I took close to a hundred pictures before one met with mother's approval. Uncle Steve & Aunt Karma will vouch for that.

MONDAY--The Crew spent the nite at Camp WalMart in Missoula, MT. This morning we got a Jiffy Lube for the Nomad, then continued our adventures through the Bitterroots. When Jude got in bed last night, she discovered her knee--her bad knee--felt like it was all bruised. She actually turned on a light to take a look. The knee looked normal, but boy did it hurt. Maybe the hiking strained it a little. Jude's theory is: the knee might whine for awhile until it discovers it is going hiking every day. Then it will shut up.
MONDAY--Lemhi Pass in the Bitterroots. Seeing pictures of this pass was the reason the Crew decided on this particular adventure.
MONDAY--Bald eagle nest with chicks chirping away inside. Seeing this was totally awesome.
MONDAY--Statue of a soaring eagle.
MONDAY--Second eagle nest the Crew saw today. Two chicks in nest and they were noisy. After screetching a warning, the mother took off and circled the tree Jude & Pixie were standing under. They took notice and backed off very quickly.
MONDAY--Representation of Agai Dika teepees, facing East toward the rising sun. It was HOT outside (in the high 90s), but cool inside the teepees.
