MONDAY--(Post by Jude)--Wrote at Terry's today ie. away from home & guess what? No interruptions that started with, "M-o-m will you. . ." Got an eight page count, which is great for me.

Now it's 6:30pm and I am dying tired, so I'm off to bed. I guess with such an early night I'll have an early morning date with Master.

QUESTION FOR THE DAY: If a man speaks in the forest and there is no woman around to hear him, is he still wrong? Post your answer in the comment section.

SUNDAY--Another great day today. It was windy and cold this morning (if the high 40s can be considered cold).

The Crew did two geocachings, one along Babel Slough by the Sacramento River and another by the levee at Garcia Bend. Jude thinks this is a really fun game.

Jude's mom--aka the Bad Mother--phoned to say that she shoveled six inches of snow off the walks today. The temperature in Logan, Utah will dip to 7 degrees tonight and the high tomorrow will be 17 degrees. Now these kind of temperatures really put COLD into perspective, don't they?

Jude loves the snow. This is a poem she wrote.

missing snow
****************

Awaiting sunset
one evening,
I walk the path
beyond Garcia Bend.

Hiding my eyes
behind the light,
I shut out this world
and entice another in.

Drawing my coat around me,
I summon the thunder of
silver-footed steeds
to lead the way.

Frigid walls of winter,
that once existed elsewhere,
slip through
cracks of time.

Twilight is clear
and still--
without blurring,
I catch the glimpse I seek.

Weed-fringed ditches
clothed about with frosty white,
run the line
from here to there.

I trudge across snowy fields
welcoming the bite
of cold--and
bitter loss.

Tears crowd my vision,
clarifying the unworldly realm.
Snow falls so thick
even the mountains vanish.

A dark and final
emotion pulls out
an overwhelming sense of grief.
And I am very much alone.

In the end,
memory fails me, and
I make the fatal mistake
of opening my eyes.

Sunset, most overdue,
licks the Sacramento River
with its harsh red tongue.
It is time to go.

SATURDAY--While off on a MADDOG GPS adventure we saw the results of this van-that-ran-a-red-light-and-hit-a-power-line-pole accident. It was a couple of blocks from Hwy. 99 on 47th Ave. We watched the news and learned that nobody was injured, but the photo is a vivid reminder to take care when driving.

What's a GPS adventure, you ask. Read on past the accident photos. Maybe you'd like a GPS adventure as well.Posted by Hello

Close up. Well, not actually a close close up, but rather a telephoto close up.Posted by Hello

SUCCESS!!! A while back Adam Baby-not gave Jude a GPS. After she figured out how to kinda work it, she drug us off to REI for a real lesson. Boy did Jude look weird, freaky, dare we say insane, running around the REI parking lot while an employee trotted along side giving directions, helps, and tips.

Then today, it was off to the hunt. For details, or an adventure of your own, visit www.geocaching.com.

Adam and Jude made their first find today. And Jude is certain there will be more GPS adventures to come.

"Just wait 'til we have a GPS adventure when we're back in Wyoming," Jude said, dreamily (Oh no, an adverb! Couldn't Jude have come up with a more descriptive verb?) with stars in her eyes.

We on the Crew are still wondering if the GPS unit is a mistake, but we are stuck with the outcome anyway. Posted by Hello

TUESDAY--Those of you who know Jude, know that she LOVES crows. Besides feeding them every day, she also TALKS to them--sometimes in English and sometimes in crowspeak. "Gaw-w-w-w, gaw-w-w-w." And they talk back.

When she calls them to food, they answer and come swooping in. If she's late feeding them, they call her.

Wednesday--Today was way too great to stay inside, so the Adventure Crew hit the road. Driving along the Sacramento River and up, down and around the sloughs we saw great scenery and got really wet. One time Jude was so excited looking out the open window while she was driving that she didn't notice the rain streaming in. Pixie's bed got damp, and Jude's latest chapter got saturated.

Jude apologized profusely, rolled the window up, and turned on the heater. We had to forgive her because she’s the only one with a driver’s license. She promised to try and be more careful in the future.

If it rains tonight we'll camp out in the Nomad.

TIP OF THE DAY: You CAN camp in your driveway, but you CAN'T boat in your tub.

We on the adventure crew just love autumn colors and the cooler weather. It is such a great change from summer Posted by Hello

Get a load of the traffic jam! This is just about the maximum number of cars we saw today. Posted by Hello

Rainy day on the Sacramento River. Jude always uses days like this for an excuse to clammer up and down riverbanks and get totally muddy. The crew insists she leave the mud outside the Nomad, which means there are always a bunch of clothes in the road. Posted by Hello

Pumphouse Slough Road. Get a load of those clouds. Tan-fan-dang-go! Posted by Hello

What a wow-wonderful day! The adventure crew LOVES rainy days and Wednesdays. Posted by Hello
