K-NEE Update

Jude gimped down to Hanger's today to get an adjustment to the dreaded locking k-nee brace. The top strap and support had to be lopped off because:
1. Jude couldn't do the top strap by herself
2. The brace had to be taken off in order to frequent the 'ladies room' (of which Jude frequents frequently)

Michele did the adjustment and after a quick pic from Pixie, Jude was on her gimpy way.

And here's the kicker -- Jude feels like crud. Not only does her k-nee hurt, but her throat is tight like a sore throat is coming on, she feels achy, and is beginning to whine. The Crew will have to put a stop to the whining. Quick! Call in Ivan and Croc with the instruments of torture.

High Water

Parking lot at Discovery Park where the American River & SacRiver converge. The concrete block bathrooms are underwater. Not to worry, the park was designed for flooding--although the news stations would like people to believe the high water level is a disaster.

Clarksburg Landing (where Jude likes to hang out) under water and blocked off.

Levee seepage just south of Clarksburg. The sandbags form a wall and the water fills up like a swimming pool. The weight of the water keeps the SacRiver from charging through, taking the levee with it.

Happy New Years!

The Crew drove to Consumnes Wildlife Preserve today so we could birdwatch and Jude could write. But the road was closed. We waited and watched for a while and when we saw a truck come out, we drove around the blockade and moseyed down the road.

It wasn't too long before we had a Sheriff's SUV on our tail. We talked to the friendly Sheriff deputy for awhile, but were still roused and had to turn around.

We ended up near Freeport. No view of the SacRiver, but a good view of a weedy field. The day rained, the wind blew, and Jude wrote. All in all, a very fine day.
