The first Napoleon Dynamite Festival was held in Preston, Idaho this past June 24 & 25.
Those who know Jude, and Jude's family (especially Adam), know that Napoleon Dynamite is considered to be a great movie, if not a cult classic. If Jude would have been in the area (that word's for you, Louise), she would have been mixing with the throngs of fellow Napoleon Dynamite lovers.
According to Jude's mom, hundreds--if not thousands--turned out for the event. Preston's 31 motel rooms were booked solid, turning the small, quaint town into a virtual tent city. The festival boasted tater tot eating contests, Napoleon impersonations & look-alikes, volleyball tournaments, boondoggle lessons and a sweet self-guided map of the filming locations.
Gosh, it's never too late to dust off your moon boots. And don't forget the chapstick. Or the red rubber sheet.
